Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Bead is a practice app with no account. This policy says, in plain words, what happens to your information. The short version: your practice and your answers stay on this phone. If you subscribe, the purchase goes through Apple or Google.
No account
You don't sign up or sign in. Bead never asks for your name or email address. At the start it asks which everyday focus slips you notice, how often, which one matters most, whether your mind wandered while you answered, and, if you like, your age band. These are used only on this phone: to say your answers back to you, to set your plan, and, for the age band, to pick the research ranges shown with your results. None of it is scored.
Your data stays on this phone
Your answers, age band, beads, levels, results, how you said a session felt, notes, boards friends shared with you, the price and terms you agreed to, and settings are stored only on this phone. They are never sent to us, to advertisers, or to anyone else. If your phone backs itself up (for example to iCloud or Google), that backup may include them. Backups are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms; we never see them.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Bead Plus, you buy it through Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their terms; we never see your payment details. Bead uses RevenueCat, a subscription service, to check whether your subscription is active. It receives a random ID created for this app, your purchase records from the store, and the technical details any app's request carries, such as your IP address, your phone's system and app version, and your store's country. It never receives your answers, results or practice. RevenueCat handles this only to provide the service to us, under terms that require it to protect the data, and we see only subscription records and totals. We keep a record of the price and terms you agreed to, on this phone.
No ads, no tracking
Bead doesn't analyze how you use the app or how you practice, and it has no ads and no tracking. RevenueCat shows us subscription counts and revenue, never your answers or results. Because Bead doesn't track you, it works the same whether or not your phone or browser sends a Do Not Track signal. Apart from checking your subscription, Bead works without an internet connection.
Export
An export file is created only when you choose Export data in Settings. Where you keep or send that file is up to you.
Reminders
If you turn on a daily reminder, the phone schedules it itself. Reminders about your subscription, such as the one before a yearly plan renews, are scheduled the same way. No server is involved, and nothing about them is sent anywhere.
Sharing
Sharing happens only when you tap Share. Your phone's share sheet sends the card and link to the app and person you pick. The card shows that day's board result (or the bead's number), its date, and the beads on your current strand. The link carries only the date and that board result. Nothing else from your record goes with them, and never your answers.
If you write to us
Send feedback opens your email app with the app version, your bead count, and your phone's system and version (for example, iOS 18.2) filled in. You can change or delete those lines before sending. We receive your email address and what you write, use them only to reply to you and to improve Bead, and delete them within 12 months of your last message.
Seeing and changing your information
You can see and change your answers in Settings › Your answers. To see everything Bead keeps about you, use Export data.
Consumer health data
Some US state laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, may treat answers about attention or memory, and results like Bead's, as consumer health data. Bead keeps them only on this phone: we don't collect, share or sell them. If that ever changes, Bead will ask for your consent first. Our consumer health data policy is at beadfocus.com/consumer-health-data.
Deleting your data
Reset all data in Settings removes your answers, beads, levels, results, notes and settings from this phone, including Bead's backup copies. Deleting the app removes them too. Neither one ends a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. To ask us to delete your subscription records at RevenueCat, or emails you've sent us, write to the address below.
Children
Bead is made for adults, 18 and over, and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has written to us, tell us and we'll delete the message.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here and in the app with a new effective date.
