Terms of Use
Effective October 19, 2026
Items in highlighted brackets are placeholders that will be filled in before Bead is released.
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and [COMPANY NAME, LLC] (“we”, “us”), the maker of Bead. By using Bead you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Bead.
What Bead is
Bead is a practice app: short attention and memory exercises built on tasks from published research, with a check-in every 18 beads that repeats the same tests so you can see what changed.
Bead is practice, not treatment. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. We don’t claim that practice in Bead makes you better at work, school, or anything else in daily life. If attention or memory problems get in the way of your life, talk to a healthcare professional.
Who can use Bead
You must be at least 18 years old and able to agree to these terms where you live.
Bead Plus
After your first check-in, Bead needs a Bead Plus subscription. Your results stay on your phone either way, and you can still export your data and restore a purchase without one.
- Bead Plus Yearly: $49.99 per year.
- Bead Plus Monthly: $9.99 per month.
Prices are in US dollars and sales tax may apply. Outside the US, the price in your currency is shown in the app before you buy.
Payment
You buy Bead Plus through the App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. There is no free trial. Apple or Google handles the payment; we never see your card details.
Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically, for the same period and at the then-current price, until you cancel. On the App Store, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. On Google Play, cancel before the current period ends. If you have a yearly plan, Bead reminds you 30 days before it renews. If you have a monthly plan, Bead reminds you once a year what you pay and how to cancel. Bead sends these reminders as notifications if you allow them, and also shows them on its Home screen.
How to cancel
Cancel anytime in Bead › Settings › Manage subscription, which opens your store’s subscription page. You can also cancel in your phone’s settings: on iPhone, Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions; on Android, Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. There are no questions to answer and no offers to stay. After you cancel, Bead Plus stays on until the period you’ve already paid for ends.
Refunds
App Store purchases are refunded by Apple under its own policies: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play purchases can be refunded by Google under its policies, through your Google Play order history, and Google Play also lets us refund a purchase: write to us at the address below.
Price changes
If we change the price of Bead Plus, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies and, where required, ask for your agreement. A new price starts at your next renewal, never in a period you’ve already paid for.
Restoring a purchase
If you change phones or reinstall Bead, tap Restore purchases (in Settings or on the Bead Plus page) to bring back an active subscription bought with the same Apple Account or Google Play account. Your beads and results live on your phone, so move them with Export data and Import data.
Your data
Your practice, results and answers stay on your phone. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google, and the app checks whether Bead Plus is on through a subscription service; these receive a purchase record, never your answers or results. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
Using Bead
We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use Bead on devices you own or control. Please don’t copy, change, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or try to get around the subscription.
If you got Bead from the App Store
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Bead and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Bead.
- If Bead fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Bead.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about Bead, including product liability, failing to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer-protection or privacy claims.
- If someone claims that Bead infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with that claim.
- You confirm that you are not in a country under a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Bead, such as your mobile carrier’s.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
No warranty
To the extent the law allows, Bead is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work to keep it running well, but we don’t promise that it will be free of errors or always available.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim about Bead is limited to what you paid for Bead Plus in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can’t be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. [DISPUTE RESOLUTION: to be set with counsel]
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will appear here and in the app with a new effective date. If a change affects your subscription, the app will tell you before it applies.
